Why?

“Why?”

 This strange yet sterling star leads the Wise Men every step of the way.

They are traveling from the East.
Bethlehem would appear first.

And yet, the star bypasses Bethlehem and leads them to Jerusalem to meet the jealous and insecure King Herod first.

I only have one question…

Why?
Why would the Star lead the Wise Men to the bad guy first?
Why would such leading lead to such destruction?
Why would the “roundabout way” be “the way” to the newborn king?

Forgive me.
I guess I really had four questions…

I only have one answer…
I don’t know.

The Empty Chair

The Empty Chair…

“The Empty Chair” sits vacant at every home this Christmas.
It sat there all alone in my house and it sits all alone in yours.
The difficult part about dealing with “The Empty Chair” is that it used to be filled…
Filled to overflowing perhaps…
Filled with sounds of laughter…
Filled with striking smiles and twinkling eyes…
Lips that curled a certain way right before busting out laughing and even crying…
Eyes that narrowed in keen observation, eyes that softened and moistened upon saying “good-bye”…
Eyes that lit up with a joy uncontainable upon seeing your face…

The Empty Chair used to be filled..
Filled with hands that you used to hold and stroke and hands that used to hold yours…
Hands that had wedding rings and diamond rings and mood rings and turquoise rings…
Hands that had dug in the dirt, changed the oil, baked the birthday cakes and
Hands that you just knew you would hold forever and ever…

The Baby Changed Everything

Overheard at the gym this morning while shaving…

A couple of guys saw a buddy they hadn’t seen in awhile…

Brad: Hey buddy! Haven’t seen you in awhile. Where have you been?

Missing Buddy: I moved back to Fresno, but still have most of my work here in Vegas.

Brad: Really. Wow. What caused the move?

Missing Buddy: Well… my girlfriend got pregnant. She didn’t have any friends or family here, so I did the right thing and moved her closer to family. Had to sell my bachelor pad and now I have a little condo I stay at when I am in town.

Brad: Dude…

Missing Buddy: Yeah… the baby changed everything!
