Rest

InGreenPastures

It’s the first Thursday of June!!

Do you remember how God made the world in six days?

Day 1: The heavens, the earth, light and darkness.
Day 2: Heaven
Day 3: Dry land, the seas, and vegetation.
Day 4: The sun, the moon and the stars.
Day 5: Living creatures in the water, birds in the air.
Day 6: Land animals and people.

Do you remember what God did on Day 7?
I’ll type it in here for you…
“So God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it God rested from all his work that he had done in creation.” (Genesis 2: 3)

Do you remember the 10 Commandments?
Specifically, do you remember Commandment #4?
I’ll type it in here for you…
“Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor, and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, your male servant, or your female servant, or your livestock, or the sojourner who is within your gates. 11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy. (Exodus 20: 8-11)

We keep the Sabbath holy by… Resting!

Do you remember what Jesus was recorded doing on the day before His triumphal entry in to Jerusalem on Palm Sunday?

I’ll type it in here for you…

There’s nothing wrong with your computer…
You read it right.
Jesus did “NOTHING.”
Jesus rested!

Do you remember as a kid, your parents or a friend telling you to do something.
Do you remember your response being, “Make me!”
I remember… unfortunately.

Do you remember the 23rd Psalm?
Do you remember the 2nd sentence?
I’ll type it in here for you…
“He makes me lie down in green pastures.” (Psalm 23. 2)

How’s your rest going these days?
How’s your sense of relaxation, keeping the Sabbath day Holy and taking time off?

I am wondering if the Good Shepherd (Jesus) is going to have to “make” you lie down in the green pastures of His rest, relaxation and respite.

Do you remember what true rest feels like?
I wish I could type it in here for you…

Rest in the green pastures…
Try it out!
It will make all the difference in the world!
